So what is a business to do in the face of all of this healthcare doom and gloom?
It isn’t a pretty picture I know. It isn’t going to be easy and it is going to require a little effort from all of us but if we join together we can we can reverse this negative trend in health care.
There are numerous studies out there that are proving that the old paradigm of handling healthcare is an abject failure. Currently our system is one based on waiting for people to get sick and then treating the illness or the symptoms - often racking up thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars in healthcare costs, the cost for drugs and other treatment methods, not to mention all the lost productivity a company faces when an employee is out sick or even while they are at work and consumed with thoughts about their illness or illness within their families.
Albert Einstein once said “The world we have made as a result of the level of thinking we have done thus far creates problems we cannot solve at the same level of thinking with which we created them.” This absolutely applies to healthcare. So how do we change it? I know it can be overwhelming and most people have absolutely no idea where to start or how to go about it.
We are launching a new initiative to get our employees healthier, happier and more productive. We intend to do this by showing companies a step-by-step way to create an environment of wellness within their company. This starts by establishing a baseline and figuring out where each employee stands right now. Knowing your numbers is the next step, and then educating employees on how to take simple easy actions to significantly improve their health is the main point.
Once they are educated and motivated, we then make available to them a plethora of tools, information, experts and much more so that they can set and achieve realistic health goals.
